The news comes after Madonna announced that she will embark on a 35-city world tour, dubbed The Celebration Tour, on July 15. Madonna was supposed to direct the film, but it seems this big tour took priority. She also wrote several drafts of the screenplay with Hell Cody (Juno) And Erin Cressida Wilson (The girl on the train).
The film would follow the early days of the often controversial artist and queen of perpetual reinvention. Speaking about the film, Madonna said she hoped to “convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer – a human being, trying to make her way in this world. The focus of this film will always be the music. Music kept me going and art kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better than me to tell them. It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision.”
I was actually a little curious about this movie, but the world will go on without it. Madonna kicks off her big tour at Rogers Arena in Vancouver with stops in Detroit, Chicago, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Boston, Cleveland, Denver and more North American cities to follow, before an 11-city European leg kicking off on the 14th October.
