Ewan McGregor he seemed to have a lot of fun returning to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for Lucasfilm’s Disney+ series. Unfortunately, many fans were disappointed with the series as it could and should have been so much better!
When the series was being developed, it was only supposed to be one season, and as far as I know, that plan hasn’t changed. But McGregor hopes he can play Obi-Wan again one day.
During an interview on the Disney Studios Awards website, the actor said, “I was so happy to do it again, and so happy to be working with Hayden again. I hope we get the chance to do it again.”
This isn’t the first time McGregor has expressed an interest in returning. He would happily do a second season, saying, “I really hope we do another one. If I could do one of these every once in a while, I’d just be happy.
Hayden Christensen he also said, “Well, it was definitely designed as a standalone story. But I’d like to continue with this character. You know, I think there’s definitely a lot more to explore and I’d be so excited to be able to… I’d certainly be open to [returning for ‘Obi-Wan’ Season 2].”
However, director Deborah Chow and producer Kathleen Kennedy I’m not so sure about continuing the series, with Chow saying, “Because of that, we really conceived it as a limited series. It’s really a big story with a beginning, a middle and an end. So, we weren’t thinking any further. I think, you know, if it were to go on, it would only be if there was a real reason for another.
Kennedy added, “Well, frankly, we decided to do it as a limited series. But I think if there’s a huge engagement and people really want more Obi-Wan, we’ll definitely look into it because the fans are talking to us. And if we think, ‘OK, there’s a real reason to do this; is answer why then,’ then we will. But we’ll see.”
If Lucasfilm moves forward with another season of Obi-Wan, I think they should have a new creative team. Get Dave Filoni And Bryce Dallas Howard in there! I bet they could help create a great Obi-Wan story!
