Brendan Fraser returns as Rick O’Connell to surprise ‘The Mummy’ fans.

The release of ‘The Whale’ brought Brendan Fraser back into the Hollywood eye, and he has become one of the most beloved actors of the moment. Now, he wanted to make a gesture to his loyal career followers, and he surprised them dressed as his most iconic character, Rick O’Connell in the revival of the movie ‘The Mummy.’

On January 20, Brendan Fraser surprised his fans at the revival of ‘The Mummy’ at the Prince Charles Cinema in London, where he arrived dressed as Rick O’Connel, the protagonist of the action-adventure trilogy, which was the most important of his entire career, and which also forced him to undergo several surgeries which eventually made him led to losing his physique.

Out of the halls Brendan Fraser dressed as Rick O’Connell and he was ready to return once again to the character that had brought him glory. Already on stage, the actor thanked his fans and gave an emotional speech about his career: “Thank you. Friday night in Leicester Square. I started watching movies across the street, saw “Star Wars” in 1977 and it changed my life, made me want to make movies. I’m proud to be here tonight because this is a film that was filmed in the UK, you should know, it was filmed in Shepperton and we also filmed in Morocco. The second too. Be proud. Thanks for being here”.

In his speech, Brendan Fraser said he didn’t know what it was from ‘The Mummy’, whether it was a romance, a comedy, an action film or an arthouse film: “We had no idea until we screened it in front of a British audience. Thank you for that.” Finally, Fraser encourages audiences to go see ‘The Whale’ which hits theaters in February.

Brendan Fraser wants to return to ‘The Mummy’

There have been many times that Brendan Fraser has continued to be open to returning to ‘The Mummy’. Also during the premiere of ‘The Whale’, the actor said in an interview for Deadline that he is willing to make a fourth film of the franchise, if it were possible to see the return of all the members who participated in the making of the trilogy.

“I don’t know an actor who doesn’t want a job,” said Brendan Fraser. “I don’t think I’ve been that famous and unpaid at the same time in my entire professional career, so sign me up.” He also said in October of last year that “I’d be open to anyone finding the right path” for a fourth “The Mummy” film.

Additionally, Rachel Weizs, who played Evelyn in the first two films, said she would also be open to returning to the franchise if the plans come to fruition. Meanwhile, Universal, the home of the rights to the saga, has done nothing with the property from the failed Tom Cruise installment.
