After meeting James Gunn and Peter Safran, current leaders of DC Studios, Jason Momoa came out excited, even screaming, assuring his followers that he had “good news, great news with Warner Bros. Amazing”, although of course I couldn’t share them yet. That message was very ambiguous, but it has revived rumors that Momoa may have a new project within DC that would sideline his Aquaman (like Henry Cavill with Superman) to become the mercenary Lobo.

In an interview with Variety, Momoa referred to these rumors as well as meeting Gunn and Safran: “I will always be Aquaman. No one is going to take shit from me. There may be other characters as well. I can also play other things. I can be fun and wild and glamorous.” According to Momoa, the meeting with the directors was “wonderful”since in Warner Bros. “they like a lot of things I’m doing.”

The character’s second solo film, ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ will hit theaters after a long delay on Christmas 2023, and he said: “The great thing is that my partner and I wrote the first treatment and it was a 55-page treatment, and a lot of it has to do with me talking to the United Nations about what’s going on with the melting ice caps. I don’t there exists distant galaxy that comes to destroy us or aliens from another place. We are ruining our planet. We must come together and save our home.” The theme of climate change is also present in his new project, ‘Deep Rising’, a documentary to which he lent his voice as a narrator and in which organizations dedicated to the extraction of metals from the seabed are investigated.
The sequel to Aquaman’ is again directed by James Wan with a script signed by David Johnson and together with Momoa we will see Ben Affleck as Batman, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Dolph Lundgren, Temuera Morrison, Nicole Kidman and Amber Heard . In Spain, the premiere is scheduled for December 25 this year.
