Focus Features has released a trailer for an upcoming action comedy titled Kind company, and it looks like a super fun movie! The film will soon be premiering at the Sundance Film festival and I will definitely be making the effort to see it while I’m there! This looks like a blast!

In the film, “A London student and tireless martial artist, Ria Khan is determined to become a world-class stunt performer. She is devastated when her older sister, Lena, drops out of art school, starts dating Salim – the handsome and wealthy son of the prominent Shah family – and announces, after just a month, that they intend to marry and move to singapore! How could Lena abandon her artistic dreams to become a trophy wife? But Ria quickly realizes something is wrong, and she is left with no choice but to enlist her friends in a daring mission to kidnap Lena from the same wedding as hers.
The film was directed by the first-time director Nida Manzoorand after seeing the trailer, I’m pretty sure Marvel Studios will eventually approach her to direct one of their future film projects.
Here is a description of the film: “Nida Manzoor’s (creator of We Are Lady Parts) wickedly entertaining and exuberant cinematic debut, Polite Society is an Austenesque story of two sisters (one in wedlocks) through a loving , anarchic mashup of genres (action comedy, heist, martial arts, Bollywood, social horror). Plus, it’s an ingenious reimagining of British diasporic storytelling. Newcomer and force of nature Priya Kansara leads an extraordinary cast, including Ritu Arya as Lena and Nimra Bucha as the nefarious matriarch Shah.
The film is the protagonist Priya Kansasara as Ria, with Ritu Arya, Nimra Bucha, Akshay Khanna, Serafina WellAnd Ella Bruccoleri. Can’t wait to watch it!
Kind company will hit theaters on April 28, 2023.
