The first episode of The Last of Us recently dropped on HBO Max and it was an impressive start to what looks like an incredibly well done series! Creators Neil Druckman And Craig Mazin (Chernobyl). I mean, we’ve only seen one episode so far, but I think we’re going to see this high quality of storytelling and production over the course of the rest of the series.

There have been some changes to the fit, but they work! One of the biggest changes has been how the infection in the story spreads. In the game, people become infected with the cordyceps fungus by inhaling airborne spores. In the series it spreads through tendrils and works perfectly. Cordyceps is actually a real thing with insects and is absolutely terrifying. Cordyceps will infect an insect and control its motor functions, after the insect dies, the fungus can use its decaying corpse as fuel to grow.
Most importantly the story and the writing, and they nailed it completely, top notch work! Plus, you have great acting from everyone involved, and then there’s the epic visual production value.
I’m very happy with how this first episode turned out, and it looks like this will be a fantastic series that will take fans on an intense and wild journey! Below I’ve included a trailer teasing what’s in store for the upcoming installments of the series. Check it out and let us know what you think of the first episode!
