Italian authorities accuse Michael Bay of killing a pigeon on the set of 6 UNDERGROUND although he denies the allegations

Director Michael Bay is known for his big blockbuster movies like Armageddonthe Transformers movies and more recently Ambulance, but his most recent title is less about cinema and more about the allegations recently filed against the filmmaker in Italy. Italian authorities appear to believe that when Bay was in the country in 2018 filming the Netflix hit 6 Undergrounda pigeon was killed on his set.

Bay claims he has made multiple attempts to clear his name and denies all allegations. He made the following statement to The Wrap:

“I am a well-known animal lover and a huge animal activist. No animals involved in the production were harmed or injured. Or any other production I’ve worked on
over the last 30 years”.

The report said Italian authorities say a carrier pigeon was killed during the 6 Underground production in Rome.

Pigeons are a protected species in Italy. Italy has a national law which makes it illegal to harm, kill or capture any wild bird, including pigeons. Pigeons are also protected in the EU under the Birds Directive.

According to an insider familiar with the production, a carrier pigeon was killed by a trolley in the middle of a shoot in Rome. An anonymous individual who happened to be on the set allegedly witnessed the incident, took a photo and reported it to Italian authorities, the insider added.

Bay went on to say:

“We have clear video evidence,” Bay said, “a multitude of witnesses and security officers who exonerate us from these claims. And he debunks their one paparazzi photo, which provides a false story. There is a court case pending so I cannot go into details but I am confident we will prevail when I have my day in court.”

He added:

“I was offered by the Italian authorities the possibility of settling the matter by paying a small fine, but I refused to do so as I would not plead guilty to harming an animal.”

So I guess we’ll have to see how that plays out for Michael Bay. Quite insane to have this resistance for a pigeon! May he rest in peace.
