Ke Huy Quan says Kevin Feige contacted him and asked him to join the MCU

Golden Globe winning actor Ke Huy Quan was a big deal in the 80s, starring in two of the most successful films: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom And The Goonies. His legacy has lived on and fans have continued to love those films over the years, so it was great when the actor returned to the acting world in 2022 and starred in the blockbuster action/sci-fi/adventure film Everything everywhere all at once.

He was amazing in that movie, and one of the first people to notice that was the president of Marvel Kevin Feige. We reported four months ago from D23 that it was announced that Quan would be joining the cast of Loki Season 2 on Disney+, and now the actor tells the story of how that ended.

In a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via CB), Quan said:

“When our movie came out, the first phone call I got was from Kevin Feige. Who kindly asked me if I wanted to join the MCU and I called Jonathan and the gang, and said, you know what, nobody wants to hire me except Stephen Spielberg, George Lucas, The Daniels and Kevin Feige. It was incredible. 2022 is the year I will always remember because it is one of the happiest years of my life.”

It’s so damn beautiful! Your movie just came out and you’re wondering how people are going to get it, and you get a call from Kevin Feige asking you to join the MCU?! This is good feedback. Quan is like the epitome of quality over quantity, and I can’t wait to see everything she chooses to be a part of.

He has already signed on to star in the next film by the Russo brothers, The electrical state, about “an orphaned teenager traverses the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother.” We will also see him collaborate again with the co-star Michelle Yeoh later this year in the Disney series Chinese born in Americawhich “It follows Jin Wang, an average teenager who juggles his high school social life and his family life as an immigrant. When he meets a new foreign student at school, even more worlds collide in Jin’s life.
