It was recently reported that Dwayne Johnson he had a multi-year plan which he pitched to Warner Bros. “for Black Adam and a Cavill-led Superman where the two properties would intertwine, setting up a showdown between Superman and Black Adam.”

Johnson had big ambitions and in the process he made some enemies in the studio because of the way he went around everyone to try and get what he was working towards. Things didn’t turn out the way he’d hoped, but in a recent social media post, he shared that he’s proud that he had the courage to try and fail.

He didn’t specifically address the DC Studios reports, but it’s pretty obvious that’s what he was addressing. He said:

“A thought I wanted to share with you guys. There’s a good friend of mine named Inky Johnson, you should follow him. He always has a great perspective, a grounded perspective. He keeps it raw. He keeps it real. He said something really profound that I feel related to this whole thing: …he talked about having the courage to fail. And the reason I bring this back to you guys is to have the courage to fail versus the desire to be famous, to have the desire to succeed.

He went on to say:

“But I’ve discovered in life that the desire to become famous, the desire to succeed will never be as powerful as having the courage to fail. And I love it, because I look back on my life, and around every corner, and still today… Look, I’m a Tyrannosaurus Rex, I’m 58,000 years old, but I still have it. And this is my lead foot. I’m just having the courage to fail, around every corner. And this guides my decisions. This allows me to take big swings. Kick my ass on some of them. Fail at some of them. But then, succeed in some of them too. So, I will always choose courage over desire. Have a good week and let’s get busy. This is our year. 2023. Courage for desire.

I have to say I like Johnson’s attitude. He’s a half glass full guy. Johnson wouldn’t be as successful as he is without having the courage to take certain risks throughout his career. It’s where he is because he worked his ass off.
