The Last of Us fans seem pretty excited about the upcoming HBO Max series. Everything we’ve seen looks great and the creator of the game Neil Druckman recently said that the series will be “the best and most authentic game adaptation” yet. This is what fans were hoping for!
Druckmann has now revealed that the series will only tell the story of the games that have been made. It will go no further; they won’t start creating new stories for multiple seasons. During an interview with THR, he said, “I don’t like fillers. We have no plans to tell stories beyond the adaptation of the games. We won’t encounter the same problem as Game of Thrones since Part II doesn’t end on a cliffhanger.
So, the entire first season covers the events of the first game, and if a second season happens, it will cover the sequel. After that, it will be done, unless maybe a third game is developed.
When it comes to a possible third game, Druckmann says “I think there’s more story to tell.” As for the show, creator of the series Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) says, “I have no interest in a show of spinning dishes that go on forever. When she becomes a perpetual motion machine, she can’t help but get a little… stupid. Endings mean everything to me.
Well, let’s hope they really deliver on what they promise and offer fans a great series that stays true to the source material and a strong ending.
Peter Pascal stars in the series as Joel, and Bella Ramsey is taking on the role of Ellie in the upcoming video game adaptation. They are united by Gabriel Luna as Joel’s brother Tommy Anna Torv, Merle Dandrige, Nick Offerman, Storm Reid, Nico Parker, Gabriel Luna, Jeffery Pierceand Murray Barlett.
The Last of Us takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed by a deadly virus. Joel (Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie (Ramsey) out of an oppressive quarantine zone to the Fireflies, a cure-seeking organization. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal and harrowing journey as both must traverse the United States and depend on each other for survival.
The series will be released on HBO Max on January 15, 2023.
