A new clip has been released from the costume thriller The pale blue eyehero Cristiano Bale. The story centers on a young cadet the world would come to know as Edgar Allan Poe and a series of murders that took place at the United States Military Academy, West Point, in the 1830s. Bale plays retired detective Augustus Landor, tasked with investigate those murders. .

The film was directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy heart, horns), and is based on Louis BayardoThe 2006 gothic thriller novel of the same name. Harry Melling (Harry Potter, The Queen’s Gambit) stars opposite Bale as Edgar Allan Poe.
Here is the full synopsis:
West Point, 1830. In the early hours of a gray winter morning, a cadet is found dead. But after the body arrives at the morgue, tragedy turns fierce when it is discovered that the young man’s heart has been expertly removed. Fearing irreparable damage to the fledgling military academy, its leaders turn to a local detective, Augustus Landor (Bale), to solve the murder. Hampered by the cadets’ code of silence, Landor enlists the help of one of their own to take the case forward, an eccentric cadet with a disdain for the rigors of the military and a penchant for poetry, a young man named Edgar Allan Poe.
