Marvel has a lot of films under their belt since Phase 1 began in 2008, and the momentum continues as we head into Phase 5 of the MCU. Fans have many requests about the projects and characters they would like to see covered in the coming years, and a recurring suggestion is the female-led ensemble film, A force.
Fans aren’t the only ones talking about the idea. In a recent interview with CinePop, Ant-Man and the Wasp actress Evangelina Lilli she was asked if she would be willing to do a A force the movie happens. She explained:
“Yes! I’d like to be there. I’d like it to happen. That day we shot the scene [Avengers:] Endgame where it was just us women was the most special day I’ve ever had. Maybe it was related to the most special day I’ve ever had filming a Marvel movie.”
By the end of the year, we’ll see The wonders2019 sequel Captain Marvelwhich will be a female ensemble film that will unite Brie Larsonby Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel; Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau; and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel. That’s going to be great, but there’s definitely room for more female-led stories to tell.
The director of the film, Nia DaCostarecently explained in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly how’s that Game over the scene Lilly was talking about influenced her approach:
“I, like many women around the world, have watched Avengers: Finale, and I had those six seconds of all Marvel women together. I was once shivering, but was also very annoyed. I was like, ‘Two hours of this, please.’ So it was really cool that they decided to make a team movie with three of my favorite heroes, so that was the most exciting thing. I’ve been a huge Marvel fan for a long time, I loved the movies. And so, I always knew I wanted to be part of the universe.”
We all want to be part of the universe! But we’ll settle for seeing it unfold on screen. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania hits theaters February 17. The wonders will be out later this year. AND A force it may or may not be developed… Do you hope it will be realized?
