The Christmas present that Netflix had prepared for fans of Geralt de Rivia’s fantasy series was greeted with complaints and tears. Well, ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ did not please the followers of the main series, and there are already thousands of fans shocked by the spin-off which takes place a thousand years before the events with Henry Cavill.

Unfortunately for Netflix, ‘The Witcher: Origin of Blood’ annoys the fans, who lament and see no relationship as to why this story is in the same universe as Geralt and his adventures on the continent. Whether this was caused by Henry Cavill’s recent departure from the series is unknown, but it seems like followers of Andrzej Sapkowski’s work aren’t having the best time.

And even worse then not even among the experts ‘The Witcher: Origin of Blood’ it was well received. Specialized sites such as Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic or IMDb, have revealed their scores for the Netflix series, and in all ratings they do not range from mediocre to even bad, a scenario that, without a doubt, the platform has not seen coming for its fantasy spin-offs.

Some of fans complain ‘The Witcher: Origin of Blood’ for not having much relevance to the story of this universe, and they blame Netflix for doing what they want with the rights to the saga. And others blame the absence of Geralt de Rivia in a story that revolves around the white magician, and finally who defines the story as “forced inclusion” for the representation of the characters.

Critics Destroy ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’

The big critics of ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ say that Netflix is trying to force the diversity of the show, instead of offering a good story. Opinion seems to be the same among pundits, with 24 media outlets giving it a 38% rating, while the general public gave it just 8%, based on 800 fan reviews.

As for the popularity of the show, ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ premiered on December 25th and now it has only reached the fourth position in the Top 10 Most Popular Series and Movies on Netflix. While that’s a good position, for a big bet from the company, everything seems to be heading towards the next big failure of the platform.

On the other hand, fans want Netflix to start respecting the story of the books in their adaptations, not just ‘The Witcher’. But mostly in the work of Andrzej Sapkowski, who has a large legion of followers, who have been pounding the platform to make significant changes to the original story.
