The 78th Emmy Awards will take place on Monday, September 14, honoring the most successful television productions of the season. Medical drama The Pitt leads all nominees this year with 25 nominations.
The Pitt is set in a hospital emergency room and follows a single shift in the lives of the staff who work there.
Among comedies, Hacks picked up 24 nominations, making it the most nominated comedy series in a single year in the history of the awards. Hacks will compete for outstanding comedy series against Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking, Nobody Wants This, Margo's Got Money Troubles and Widow's Bay.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with an exclusive broadcast on HBO Max and TNT. Actress Mariska Hargitay, known for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, will host the night, the first woman to present the ceremony solo in 15 years.
The Primetime Emmy Awards are handed out annually by the Television Academy to recognize excellence in American prime time television, spanning drama, comedy, limited series and unscripted programming.
