Russian national Daria Sidorova has been sentenced to nine months in prison after posing as the Russian ambassador's wife in Thailand to defraud compatriots. The Pattaya Provincial Court found Sidorova guilty of two counts of fraud, according to news outlet Baza.

In one case, Sidorova cheated a female compatriot out of 230,000 baht, or about 559,000 rubles. She had promised to help the victim secure an international passport and a digital nomad visa.

Fraud Charges and Debts

Sidorova also attempted to sell Russian citizenship to a man for 3,300 euros, which is roughly 309,000 rubles. Additionally, she owes about 500,000 baht, or around 1.2 million rubles, to her interpreter Svetlana.

Sidorova is currently awaiting further proceedings in a prison near Pattaya. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova previously reacted to the case, urging compatriots to remain vigilant and verify all information before trusting anyone.
