Coyote Movie Earns 94 Percent Score on Rotten Tomatoes

The upcoming Looney Tunes film Coyote vs. Acme has earned a 94 percent freshness rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes ahead of its global premiere on August 28.

The feature combines live action actors with cartoon animation to follow Wile E. Coyote as he files a lawsuit against the fictional Acme Corporation. The legal battle stems from Acme supplying defective tools throughout his repeated attempts to capture the Road Runner.

Critics praised the movie for pairing high quality humor with thoughtful themes about overcoming adversity and corporate overreach. Several reviewers compared the project to the 1988 classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit, praising its integration of live action performers and cartoon figures as one of the best seen in recent years.

Critical acclaim and reviewer reactions

Early reviews called the picture a hilarious masterpiece and one of the finest hybrid animation movies to date, noting that it will serve as a major treat for long time fans of the Looney Tunes franchise.

Reviewers also highlighted the production's polished comedy, reliance on practical special effects, and well constructed narrative. Critics noted that despite its frequent comedic beats, the filmmakers successfully delivered a touching story for the main protagonist.

One reviewer expressed disbelief that the film was nearly kept from public view entirely, describing the finished work as a soulful comedy filled with pure cartoon joy. Another critic noted that based on its volume of laughs per minute, it represents the funniest movie released in 2026 so far.

Drawing comparisons to the 1996 film Space Jam, another critic stated that the picture brings back classic cartoon characters with explosive energy and rich visual style, suggesting that its broad family appeal could turn it into a major phenomenon.

Cast details and production background

The movie stars John Cena, known for his starring role in Peacemaker, alongside Lana Condor from Alita: Battle Angel and Will Forte from Nebraska.

Looney Tunes is a classic animated comedy franchise created by Warner Bros. featuring iconic cartoon characters such as Wile E. Coyote, who first appeared in 1949 as an ambitious predator whose elaborate traps constantly backfire.

Although principal photography finished back in 2023, the theatrical release suffered multiple delays due to complications surrounding distribution rights.

Following its worldwide launch in August, Coyote vs. Acme is officially scheduled to open in Russian cinemas on September 10.
