Chrysa Ropa moves to Cyprus to film with Andreas Georgiou

Greek actress Chrysa Ropa has relocated permanently to Cyprus to collaborate with director Andreas Georgiou, explaining that professional opportunities and personal reasons prompted her decision to move away from Athens.

Despite making the island her primary residence, Ropa confirmed she will travel back to Greece once a month to perform alongside actor and satirist Lakis Lazopoulos on the television programme Al Tsantiri News.

Speaking on Monday morning, October 26, during an appearance on the MEGA programme Hamogela Kai Pali with host Sissy Christidou, Ropa discussed her new everyday life outside the Greek capital. She explained that her artistic collaboration with Georgiou served as the catalyst for moving to Cyprus on a permanent basis.

Ropa stated that she has already settled into her new routine in Cyprus, where filming is currently under way. She praised Georgiou warmly, saying that she loved working with him and highlighting his impressive grasp of comedy. The actress explained that she had wanted to step away from Athens for a while. She added that she does not have the luxury of remaining out of work because she earns her living from the theatre, noting that circumstances become difficult whenever employment is scarce.

Her next appearance on MEGA is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28. The broadcast represents her second appearance of the current television season, following a premiere episode that achieved high viewing figures in the ratings tables.

Al Tsantiri News is a long-standing live satirical show hosted by Lazopoulos, one of Greece's best known comic performers and playwrights. The show, which airs on the private national network MEGA Channel, features live audiences, political satire, and comedy sketches.

Ropa has established herself over several decades as one of Greece's most prominent comedic actresses, performing regularly in major theatrical productions and television series. Her new creative partner, Georgiou, is an established Cypriot actor and director responsible for producing numerous high-profile serials filmed on location in Cyprus and broadcast across the Greek-speaking world.
