Actress Christina Applegate has been discharged from a Los Angeles hospital after spending nearly four months receiving medical treatment, according to a report published by TMZ on Monday.
Sources with direct information told the outlet that the 54-year-old star, who revealed her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2021, is doing well following her return to home life. The Daily Mail reached out to Applegate's representative for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
Applegate was admitted to the hospital in late March, although specific details regarding the reason for her extended stay have not been made public. It remains unclear whether her stay was directly linked to ongoing struggles with multiple sclerosis or related medical conditions.
Updates on Social Media and Treatment
The Married... With Children actress first addressed her fans in April following her admission to the hospital, sharing an update on Instagram to offer reassurance about her health. She posted an image of her memoir, You With The Sad Eyes, and wrote that she was taking a moment to focus on her health while getting stronger and better every day.
In her Instagram caption, Applegate thanked her followers for their support. "Thank you for the outpouring of love and well wishes. Health issues are a constant for me, but I'm a strong chick and I'm getting stronger and better every day," she wrote. "I'm taking a moment to focus on my health, but I'll be back with more to say soon enough."
Applegate's representative previously told the Daily Mail that they had no comment on whether she was in the hospital or what medical treatments she was receiving. The representative noted that the actress has maintained a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has shared openly in her memoir and on her podcast.

Earlier in February, Applegate explained during an interview with People that her condition had left her largely confined to her bed due to ongoing severe pain.
Despite her physical struggles, the Dead To Me star explained that she makes a dedicated effort to leave her bedroom for her teenage daughter, Sadie, specifically to drive her to school. "I want to take her; it's my favorite thing to do. It's the only time we have together by ourselves," Applegate told People. "I tell myself, 'Just get her there safely and get home so you can get back into bed.' And that's what I do."
Reflecting on her public transparency regarding her health, Applegate added, "My life isn't wrapped up with a bow. People's lives, sorry for lack of a better term, f***ing suck sometimes. So I'm being as honest and raw as I possibly can."
According to the Mayo Clinic, multiple sclerosis is a disease where the immune system attacks the protective myelin sheath covering nerve fibers. The condition can result in symptoms including numbness, weakness, difficulty walking, and vision changes.

In March, an excerpt from Applegate's memoir, You With The Sad Eyes, was published in The Guardian, where she detailed the severe fatigue caused by the illness. "One of the worst side-effects of the illness is the exhaustion," she wrote, describing the sensation as feeling like a three-day sleepless bender even after a full night of sleep, which leads her to spend extensive time in bed with a heating pad.

"On the back of that diagnosis and the symptoms I face, I no longer care what I say or how I come across or how it makes anyone feel," she wrote in the excerpt. Applegate described the extensive medical testing she underwent during those stays, telling Sigler that doctors had done every test known to man and put so much radiation into her body from CT scans to everything else.
In August 2025, Applegate recorded a podcast episode directly from her hospital bed while being treated for a severe kidney infection following a family trip to Europe. She recalled waking up to severe pain in her right side that left her screaming before demanding to be admitted for comprehensive testing.
An emergency CT scan confirmed the kidney infection. Speaking about her memoir, which was officially released on March 3, Applegate explained that she made the decision to write the book when she was forced to slow down.
