Chhoti Kumari, a woman who left her husband in 2024 to be with her lover, was found murdered inside a suitcase in Daman, India Today reported.
According to investigators, Kumari was already married when she started a relationship with Rishabh Kumar. She fled with Kumar in 2024 despite opposition from her family, and the couple went to live in Daman. Following her disappearance, her relatives filed a formal missing person and kidnapping report with the police, but authorities could not locate the pair.
Discovery of the body
The crime was uncovered after Daman police received information about a female body discovered inside a travel bag. Officers subsequently identified the deceased as Kumari during their investigation. Law enforcement authorities have since launched an operation to locate and arrest the suspect, though the exact motive for the murder has not yet been established and the investigation remains ongoing.
Kumari's family said they believe Kumar killed her during a quarrel, placed her body into a suitcase, and fled the scene. The source also noted a previous incident in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, where a woman attacked her lover with a knife while he slept because he refused to marry her.
