Greek police arrested a 24-year-old Palestinian man in central Chania on suspicion of domestic violence after a 17-year-old girl reported that he had locked her inside a house.
The incident took place around 8 p.m. on Dimitrakaki Street, near the pedestrian zone of Korai Street.
What the teenager reported
According to the news outlet zarpanews.gr, the girl, who is of Bulgarian origin, said she and the 24-year-old had previously been in a relationship, and that he locked her inside a residence. Her cries for help appear to have drawn the attention of people living and passing through the area, who then contacted the Hellenic Police.
Police response
An ambulance from the National Center for Emergency Care also went to the scene, according to the same information. The teenager was taken to a police station, where she gave a statement.
Police then arrested the 24-year-old man. A case file is being prepared against him on charges of domestic violence.
