As Memphis police continue to investigate Big Scarr’s death, a family member has come forward rapper died of a prescription drug overdose.
So said the uncle of Memphis, Tennessee, Arthur Woods TMZ that his cousin overdosed and died at his girlfriend’s house on Thursday.
Signed to Gucci Manes 1017 Records, Big Scarr (born Alexander Woods) is best known to most fans for the song SoIcyBoyz featuring Pooh Shiesty, Foogiano and Tay Keith and his solo track Make A Play.

Woods further told the publication that he has no idea where his cousin got the pills and that he experienced several traumatic situations in his young life.
The Soul Keeper MC, aged just 22, appears to have struggled with depression, which the death of his beloved grandmother seemed to have shaken to the core.
Additionally, his uncle said he almost died after being shot in 2020 when the bullet traveled down his spine, prompting surgery to remove his appendix.
The rapper also suffered serious injuries in a nasty car accident when he was thrown through a windshield. The scar left on his body eventually became the inspiration for his stage name Big Scarr.

‘It hurts’: The rapper’s death was confirmed by rapper Gucci Mane, who signed Scarr to his record label 1017 Records in 2020
The uncle was very careful to say that his cousin was a kind young man and a beautiful person who was very interested in music.
The shadow room was one of the first publications to report the rapper’s death on Thursday, which was subsequently confirmed by rapper and 1017 Records owner Gucci Mane.
“It hurts,” Gucci (born Radric Delantic Davis) wrote under a carousel of photos with Big Scarr, adding: “Missing you @bigscarr.”
In one of the Grim Reaper rapper’s more recent Instagram posts, he shared his excitement about touring next year with Key Glock, also from Memphis, as part of the 2023 Glockoma Tour.

When Key Glock (née Markeyvius LaShun Cathey) heard the sad news of his passing, he took to Twitter and shared, “This is freaking awesome wtf bruh!!!” along with a sad emoji.
After the news circulated online, Jamaican-American podcaster and YouTuber DJ Akademiks, 31, posted a tribute on Twitter that read “RIP Big Scarr.”
Scarr’s colleague at 1017, Enchanting, also appeared to confirm the news on her Instagram story, writing: “Ion wants to talk. I’m sorry if I don’t answer. I just can’t,” along with a sad emoji .
She also shared a photo of the rapper and wrote: “My babayy my best friend my son I love you forever and I’m so sorry,” along with a sad emoji.
The message was followed by a clip of the two embracing: “I would do anything to hug you one more time.”
Renni Rucci also shared a tribute, writing “Damn Scarr” with a sad face emoji.

Big Scarr was born on April 7, 2000 and grew up in the Magnolia community of South Memphis.
He started his rap career in 2019 by releasing the song Make A Play which quickly became popular on YouTube.
Feeling like an aspiring rapper, Gucci Mane finally signed Scarr to his record label in 2020.
The following year, Scarr dropped his mixtape Grim Reaper, which peaked at number 25 on the Billboard 200 and sold 22,000 copies in the first week of April 2021. The mixtape featured appearances by rappers Gucci Mane, Pooh Shiesty, Foogiano, Tay Keith, Enchanting and Baby K.
Earlier this year, he released a deluxe edition, Big Grim Reaper: The Return, starring the likes of Offset, Queez Ruthless and Gucci.
Scarr’s death comes after the murders of two other Memphis rappers, Young Dolph and Snootie Wild. Young Dolph was killed in Memphis in November 2021, while Snootie Wild was shot in Houston in February.
While law enforcement continues to investigate Scarr’s death, a source confirmed to TMZ that there were no signs of foul play.
