Tammin Sursok has revealed that she called her husband and told him she was “retiring from acting” just days before landing a role on US hit show Pretty Little Liars.
The South African-born Australian actress (39) first rose to fame as Dani Sutherland on Home & Away before leaving the Australian soap in 2004 to take on roles in the US.
And despite successful stints on Hannah Montana and The Young and the Restless, Tammin struggled to land a permanent role.

“I remember being very nervous,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle of her audition for the role of main character Spencer, which went to Troian Bellisario.
“I thought it was the worst audition I’ve ever done.”
“And I called my husband after that audition and I said, ‘I’m quitting acting, I’m done with it.
“Which proves you have no idea what you feel compared to what you show because they loved the audition.”

Although she did not get the role of Spencer, she was asked to come back to read for Jenna, a blind teenager who is at odds with the series’ main characters.
The show was a huge hit, debuting with 2.47 million viewers and running for seven years.
The star has continued to act since the hit teen drama ended in 2010.
She recently showed off her “baby bump” when she will be playing a pregnant woman in an upcoming project.
“I remember being very nervous. I thought it was the worst audition I’ve ever done, and I called my husband after that audition and said, “I’m quitting acting, I’m done,” she said.
In footage shared on the social media platform, Tammin can be seen stroking her prosthetic belly in a maroon top, blue jeans and a long white sweater.
“Look at the baby, look at the baby,” she is heard saying.
Tammin was curious about the film’s title, but revealed it was a thriller that will air on a streaming platform in the New Year.
“The channel it’s streaming on is a channel I’ve wanted to be on for so long and it’s on my vision board,” she added.
