(Todd and Julie had previously attempted to sue Alexus in an unrelated civil suit. She claimed Todd tried to get potential witnesses like her to lie.) Alexus told us he believes the combined 19-year prison sentence is just punishment. “Actually, it’s light considering his total lack of responsibility,” he said during our interview.

In June, a federal grand jury in north Georgia convicted Todd and Julie of five counts of bank fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, and one count of tax fraud . Julie was also charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of obstruction of justice. After the sentencing hearing late last month, the US Attorney ryan buchanan said in a Justice Department press release that Todd and Julie “filed false bank statements, audit reports and personal financial statements to community banks in Georgia to obtain $36 million in loans.” The statement said the couple “spent the money on luxury cars, designer clothes, real estate and travel, and used fraudulent new loans to pay off old ones.” For their part, Todd and Julie still maintain their innocence. His lawyers said they planned to appeal.

“I think they were aware of what they were doing. Jurors saw evidence that Todd and Julie knew it was wrong. Alexus, who was married to Kyle when he was in Todd’s guardianship due to substance abuse issues,” she told us. “They lied to get the loan money. They lied about their wealth to everyone. they thought this would happen too. It’s the modern Bonnie and Clyde.”
Read our interview below to find out what else Alexus has to say about his former in-laws.
HollywoodLife: When and how did you meet Kyle?
Alexei: I met Kyle through Facebook in 2012. It’s been 10 years and we were both about 21 years old. We share mutual friends. When I met Kyle there was no show, just an idea about the show.
HollywoodLife: When you married Kyle, what did his father Todd think of your marriage?
Alexei: We were originally married in April 2014. Todd was furious and called off our wedding as Kyle’s adult guardian. We remarried later that year once the guardianship was cancelled. He seemed okay with our date, but totally against getting married and creating something permanent. Based on what Kyle has told me, this has led me to believe that Todd hadn’t pictured Kyle with a black woman, like me.
HollywoodLife: Has Todd ever change his feelings towards you?
Alexei: My parents are Jamaican. So, since I’m from the Caribbean and grew up in France, race wasn’t a factor for me when I fell for Kyle. Over time, as he watched me care for and be there for his child, I think Todd learned to love me and changed his perspective on him. Since we both had parents who were real estate moguls, we had similarities in our backgrounds.
HollywoodLife: What was Kyle’s relationship like with his father during their marriage?
alexus: Kyle got along well if he had little or no contact with his father. As soon as Kyle met with his father shortly before the arraignment, he told me that he intended to retract everything that had been said against him and that he wanted me to write an affidavit to do the same. I refused. This was part of our marital problems.
HollywoodLife: In your recent court case, what do you think the prosecution was trying to prove?
Alexei: I think they were trying to prove Todd was dishonest and that his story had loopholes. Todd and Julie have been very private about why they do the things they do.
HollywoodLife: From your perspective, do you think Todd and Julie knew what they were doing was wrong?
Alexei: I think they were aware of what they were doing. Jurors saw evidence that they knew what they were doing was wrong. They lied to get the loan money. They lied about their wealth to everyone. They are the modern day Bonnie and Clyde.
HollywoodLife: Do you think they received a fair sentence?
Alexei: I think his sentence was light considering his complete lack of accountability. It is very possible that they thought this would happen too.
HollywoodLife: How old was Kyle’s daughter Chloe when you met Kyle?
Alexei: Chloe was a few months old when she started dating Kyle. Todd was a ward of Kyle’s when I first met him due to his addiction issues. Chloe was already living with Todd, Julie and Chloe’s mother. My heart goes out to Chloe. Children deserve a stable environment.
HollywoodLife: Do you still talk to Kyle?
Alexei: There is no way. I last saw him in court earlier this year.
HollywoodLife: If you could say one thing to Todd, what would it be?
Alexus: I would like to apologize for the hurtful comments made on public broadcasts about me and your attempts to harm me, which have cost me thousands that I will never be able to recoup. I don’t expect that to happen. I want him to know that I forgive him in advance and that I am praying for him and Julie and all the family.
HollywoodLife: What about the rest of the Chrisley family?
Alexei: I will always have a special place in my heart for Kyle, Lindsie, Nanny Faye, Chloe and Kyle’s mom Teresa.
