Stanislavsky’s system in action.

It happens that the transformation of an actor into an image literally breaks the psyche. Several such cases were recalled on the Rambler portal.

Natalie Portman received an Oscar for her role in the drama Black Swan, but in addition to the award, the girl suffered a mental trauma. In order to immerse herself in the image, the actress lost a lot of weight and took up ballet, and on the set the director literally kept her alone. As a result, all this was reflected in the mental state of the actress.

No less difficult experience suffered Kate Winslet. In the film “The Reader” she was supposed to play the guard of Auschwitz, and in order to adequately embody the character, she began to read the works of the German Nazis, adding to the worries of the girl’s life.

Christian Bale is known for brutal body transformations, but for his role in The Machinist he literally exhausted himself. The actor ate only one apple and a can of tuna a day, which is why the film crew had to stop the voluntary hunger strike.
