UPDATED: Taylor Swift was the main winner of the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards by winning Video of the Year. The singer-songwriter took home the Moon Personality Trophy for her work in the 10-minute music video for “All Too Well” (Taylor Cover).
When the star took to the stage, she made an announcement that stunned all her fans by revealing when her next album would be out.
“My new album will be out on October 21st,” he told a rowdy crowd. And I’ll tell you more at midnight.
Around midnight ET, a post appeared on the songwriter’s Instagram account announcing the title and other details about the new album.
“Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights spread throughout my life, will be released on October 21st. See you at midnight ”, reads a message accompanying the album cover.
The album has been described as “a collection of music written in the dead of night, a journey through horrors and sweet dreams”. (The full post can be found below.)

When Swift took the stage to receive the award, she recognized that most of the nominated directors were women.
“I am honored to be recognized in this category alongside such amazing artists and directors,” he said after accepting the trophy. “I just want to say that I am very happy that, for the first time in VMA history, four of the directors nominated in the Video of the Year category are women.”

Swift said the decision to announce that she would release a new album in the coming months was due to the generosity of fans who voted for her to win video of the year.
