LA Area Emmy Awards: KCET leads the nets with six wins

KCET won six major awards during Saturday night’s live broadcast of the 2022 Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards. ABC7 and NBC4 followed with five wins in the Giselle Fernandez-hosted Spectrum News 1 show from the Television Academy Plaza in North Hollywood.

The ceremony honored locally produced programs in the following categories: live news and coverage, crime and social issues, culture and history, arts, human interest, sport and the environment.

KTLA5 won one of the big awards of the evening for its regularly scheduled daily news at 11pm NBC4 won the morning news and KVEA’s Noticiero Telemundo 52 won the day.

Television Academy President and CEO Frank Sherma presented this year’s Governor’s Award to KTLA’s Gail Anderson for “contributions to television broadcasting in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.”
