Declan Donnelly rushes to find his brother Dermott’s assistant, who is being treated for a mysterious illness at North Durham Hospital.

The star’s older brother – a Roman Catholic priest – was “extremely ill” and was hospitalized after collapsing in a “sudden” accident.

Dermott, 55, is described as “gravely ill” and his congregation gathers to pray for him.

A statement from the Catholic congregations of Stanley, Dipton, and Byermoor states: “Please pray for Father Dermott, who is extremely ill in the hospital.

“Tomorrow between 6 pm and 7 pm will be Holy Mass so that we can come together as a community at St. Joseph’s church to pray for Father Dermott’s well-being.

Please be respectful of Father Dermott and his family at this difficult time, we will update you as soon as we receive the most up-to-date information verified by the diocese.”

A source told Il Sole, “December arrived with other relatives. There are about 12 in the hospital.

“It was so sudden and everyone is praying for it to succeed.”

Dec, 46, who is eight years younger than his older brother, has previously talked about his close relationship with his older brother.

While Dermott regularly attends his brother’s shows, Declan regularly travels to the Northeast to attend services and youth projects that have been a labor of love for Dermott since the 1990s.

The Roman Catholic priest was the person who presided over Ali Astall’s wedding in December 2015 at St Michael’s Church in Elswick, where he has been a priest since 1992.

Dec is one of seven children and grew up on the Cruddas Park estate in Newcastle with three brothers – Martin, Eamonn and Dermott – and three sisters – Camelia, Patricia and Moira.

During his tenure as a priest, Dermott established a youth program to introduce disadvantaged youth to the Catholic Church.

He began as a pastor at Chester-le-Street until he was asked to organize the program two years later by the bishop of Hexham and Newcastle.

He transformed his youth ministry team into a thriving business and a few years later, with Ant and Dec’s help, in 2010 he set up the Global Youth Village Center in a former holiday camp in Durham County.
