His dubious styling statements probably got as much attention as his performance on the grid, but Lewis Hamilton had another surprise in store when he came out Wednesday afternoon.

The fashion star of Formula 1 revealed a hitherto unknown liking for classical music, particularly the symphonies of the famous 18th-century Baroque composer George Frideric Handel, while dining in West Hollywood.

Lucky Lewis, 37, wore a striking baggy orange T-shirt featuring the image of the iconic German-British composer famous for his melodic works, oratory and organ concerts.

Surprise: Lewis Hamilton announced a hitherto unknown appreciation for classical music, most notably George Frideric Handel, at a dinner in West Hollywood on Wednesday.

The Mercedes driver, who previously tried to sing with mixed results, added baggy jeans and high-heeled Nike sneakers to his look.

As temperatures rise steadily in Southern California, he finished the group in a lilac bucket hat as he left the popular Italian restaurant Cecconi’s with a small dog.

Lewis clearly made the most of his time off the track and gave a radiant smile to the audience as he made his way to a waiting car.

Hit all the right notes: Lucky Lewis, 37, wore a distinctive oversized orange T-shirt emblazoned with the image of the iconic German-British composer.

German-born Handel is known for his orchestral music Water Music and Music for Royal Fireworks, while his hymn Zadok The Priest has been performed at every royal coronation since 1727.

The composer became a British citizen the year he was first performed and died in London in 1759 at the age of 74.

While Hamilton’s talent is typically reserved for the track, the F1 driver The seven-time champion has called for retirement this season as he continues to fight behind a new generation of drivers.

Hamilton has nine races in the drivers’ standings and this will be his worst result in 16 F1 seasons of his career.

And three-time champion Sir Jackie Stewart has admitted that he thinks it’s time for Hamilton to pursue various other interests.

“It’s time to go,” said Stewart, 83. He has music, he has culture, he loves clothes and the rag trade definitely suits him.

“I’m sure he will be very successful because he made a huge amount of money, rightfully so because he was the best of his time.”
