Anthony and Joe Rousseau’s AGBO today announced the winners of the 48-hour “No Sleep ’til Film Fest” film competition.
Waldo Levendal, a director based in Cape Town, South Africa, won first place for his short film PencilAbout a simple object that represents the complexity of life.
Second place went to Australian director Joel Phillips for the film, BusinessHorror musical comedy about a woman seeking redemption.
Clay Lace, a novice director from California, took third place with his film cinema, cinema: cinemaIn which a director forces a robot to watch hours of romantic, action, drama and horror films to create the world’s first artificial intelligence film.
All the winning short films are available on the AGBO YouTube channel.
AGBO’s “No Sleep ’til Film Fest” is a 48-hour short film competition that invites new creators to shoot a short film of three minutes or less based on a creative request. The festival’s jury included AGBO co-founders and directors Anthony and Joe Rousseau, co-founder and producer Mike LaRoche, Story co-chairs Christopher Marcus and Stephen McFaul, and creative president Angela Rousseau.
The three winners will join the AGBO Storytellers Collective, a network of alumni involved in other AGBO scholarship programs.
Current members of the Storytellers Collective voted for the winning film to receive the inaugural AGBO Storytellers Collective Award, which brings another director into the mentoring program and alumni with their peers.
