In preparing for the assault, viewers saw a friendly relationship develop between Ben and Prince Albert’s new manager and bartender, Lewis Butler, despite the fact that Ben was married to Callum.
After a long row with her husband, the Walford resident decided to drown her sorrows at the pub and reunite with Lewis.
Meanwhile, Ben’s daughter Lexi came home and forced Callum to hide where her father is.

They decide to send each other a selfie together, but Ben was too distracted by Lewis to notice.
One thing led to another, Ben found himself walking up the stairs with Lewis.
However, after seeing the shot sent by her husband, she began to have doubts about what she was up to and tried to leave.

After watching the sexual assault unfold, many viewers were moved to tears and have since complained to the soap opera about the scenes shown before the shift.
Aware of the influx of complaints, the BBC released a statement in response, saying, “EastEnders has been a staple of BBC One before the breakthrough for over 37 years and has a rich history of dealing with tough and tough issues and history. Ben’s is one of those.
“We have worked closely with organizations and industry experts to tell this story which we hope will raise awareness of sexual assault and the problems surrounding it.”

The statement continued: “We are always aware of the timeslot that EastEnders airs and took great care to report this story before it airs, through continuity and on-air publicity, as well as providing BBC action. at the end of the episode offering advice and support to those affected by the problem.
Actor Max Bowden spoke about the aftermath of his on-screen character after the assault.
Saying that Ben will be in an “element of confusion” after the rape, he revealed that his character on the soap opera will shift the blame.
He said: “Ben blames himself for the rape and the breakup of his marriage. It takes him a while to realize he is a victim. Rape is, for anyone, impossible to understand.”
