In America, a mini series, shot down in 2018, went through the bestseller, Joel Dicker, quiet and almost imperceptibly the audience did not even discuss him, and local critics were not shy in expressions:

“The script of this mini series is so awkward that it would be worthwhile to be at the bottom of the box for at least a few years and then go directly to the bonfire in the back garden,” one of the Western observers answered about the film adjustment.

But in Russia everything turned out to be exactly the opposite.

We received the truth about the Harry Quebert case unexpectedly a second life: the series scored strong 8.0 points in Kinopoisk and more than 136 thousand people rated it. Spectators appreciate the atmosphere, intrigues and not rushed, detailed story. Not only fans of detectives became interested in the project, but also those who like deep psychological dramas.

In the middle of the plot, the young writer Marcus Goldman, who suddenly pulls the vortex of events: his mentor and friend, the American writer Harry Quebert, is accused of killing a young girl. To save the teacher from an electric chair, Marcus will have to unravel a complex ball of lies, envy and old secrets.

Patrick Dampsi, Ben Schnetzer, Damon Walley, Virginia Madsen and Christine Froset worked on the series. Production cost $ 35 million – a solid amount, even according to the standards of large series.

The premiere took place in Russia in the summer of 2019. In total, one season was released, each series – almost an hour of a closed story, without extra clichés and stamps. And if the series was forgotten almost immediately behind the ocean, we won a whole army of fans.
