The game version of “How to Tame A Dragon” was released last week and immediately showed the result that few had expected it.
Despite the skepticism in social networks and disputes about the casting, the film immediately became the leader of the cash register and now it bypasses the original cartoons.
The director remained the same – Dean Debt, who removed the entire animated trilogy. But the format has changed: this is the first film Dreamworks, which has received a game adjustment. Before the exit, many criticized the project for excessive proximity to the original, and the opposite, for retreats. But after the premiere it became clear: the audience went. The film received good figures from critics and an excellent public response.
According to the figures, the image has collected more than $ 200 million all over the world during the first days of rent – this is more than all cartoons at the same stage. For Universal, this can already be considered a victory, especially in view of the fact that the second weekend is still fooling, which means that the most interesting figures are still ahead.

A good reputation and the fan base helped the film to show the strongest start: according to the figures, the new “How to Tame A Dragon” has already collected $ 206 million from the World Rental. Of these, $ 93 million in the US, another $ 113 million in international markets. The film was only the tenth release of 2025, which managed to overcome this bar and led the rent to the debut weekend.
The studio has already announced that the second part would be released in 2027. Although it is at the stage of the script, but with such a start it is unlikely that the first film questions the fate of the entire trilogy.
