The replacement of the Game of Thrones was found on Netfliks – this is not the house of the dragon, but a cool historical fantasy

Because the “Game of Thrones” turned the neck in 2019, everyone who is not lazy tried to create a replacement. Someone has rolled out his own dragons, someone called on fantasy consultants, someone simply has the style of Vachovsky cloned mixed with Vikings. There was one result – fail after failure. Even the “Dragon House”, which seems to be with the genealogy and the official HBO passport, only tries to catch up with the level at which Vesteros once held.

And suddenly it turned out that the perfect replacement had long been under the nose. No white walkers, no magic, no giants who walk along the screen. But there is dirt, blood, betrayal, political equestrian games and a hero who wants to kill and then hug. Welcome to the “Last Kingdom” – a series that actually deserves to stand next to the “Game of Thrones” and not to breathe in her back.

The story of the Utred, the Saxoon, brought up by the Vikings, began in 2015 as a strong historical series with combat prejudices. And by 2020 she was used to a fully-fledged Saga, which she started comparing with the best Netflix projects. There is no magic, but the ninth century is built in such a way that medieval England is not inferior to Westeros – even without fire – exaggerated pets. Alfred the Great, ulcers, swords, dirty faces and dialogues that do not sound like a letter from a producer.

Critics with rotten tomatoes estimate all this with 91%, spectators – 95%. In Kinopoisk – also solid 7.9, and this is without a millionth HBO budgets, without Hollywood heavy artillery and without digital dragons that burn the budget on graphic display.

Especially the “last kingdom” came to the Russian audience. The series is loved for realism, for turns, for the fact that nobody is afraid to release guts in the frame. Admittedly, even fans ask for – do not compare it directly with the “Game of Throne”. The scale is not the same. The money is not the same. Actors – from a different list.

But sometimes this is exactly what is needed. No new “Game of Thrones”, but an alternative. Without special efficient show -offs, but with a story that really wants to follow. So if you expect normal fantasy without fantasy – here it is. Already on Netflix.
