
The TV presenter supports activist Nicky Clark’s Acting Your Age campaign, which hopes to challenge the way middle-aged actresses are seen on TV and in movies.
Loose Women star Denise Welch has supported a campaign to improve the visibility of middle-aged women on TV and in the cinema.
Turning to Instagram, the 64-year-old shared a heartwarming message about how “proud” she is of who she is and that women matter, regardless of age.
In the video, the ITV speaker talks about Nicky Clark’s Acting Your Age campaign, originally launched in 2018.
Denise said: “Hi, 50:50 support after 45 years. I am so proud of the woman I am today because it took me a long time to become one.
“Women matter at all ages.”

He captioned the post: “I support the Acting Your Age campaign. “Creating a woman who has continued to grow is a wonderful thing to see”
“Women matter, regardless of age. More representation for older actresses.
Denise’s fans commented on her post saying it was an “inspiration”.
One person wrote: “Your Amazing Den, I fully support you, all the actresses and women who are lucky enough to get old, a privilege denied to so many people.”

Another said, “You should be proud Denise, you are an inspiration and our queen.”
One fan commented, “I love it, I’m 64 and still have so much life in me”, while another said, “I just finished your book, the unwanted visitor is a total inspiration Denise.”
Nicky launched the campaign to highlight and challenge the invisibility of women over 45 in the UK entertainment industry and create meaningful change for all women.

He says that up until the age of 45, on-screen representation in the UK between men and women is about the same.
However, things seem to get worse for women once they are over 45.
Nicky wants the entertainment industry to embrace the Acting Your Age campaign’s promise of equality, which requires equal representation of men and women of all ages at 50:50 out of 45.
Nicky created an open letter to broadcasters and producers on inequality signed by Denise, David Tennant and Katherine Kingsley.
