You’ll never guess which one.
James McAvoy has played everyone: heroes, villains, lovers, mentors, soldiers, and even crazy people.
He took part in several successful franchises – “X-Men”, “Chronicles of Narnia”, “Split” – but left one of the most popular.

We are talking about “Harry Potter”, which became part of many legends of British cinema.
In the podcast Happy, Sad, Confused, the actor shared that early in his career he was offered a major role in the Potter series, which could make him an overnight star.
“I almost did, yeah. I auditioned. I guess I could say it was Tom Riddle,” McAvoy recalled.
Even twenty years later, he was still amazed at the advantage the creators were willing to give him for the few minutes he spent on screen:
“It was really strange. It was a lot of money for me at the time: about £40,000.”
It seems like an ideal offer in a promising project that promises many additional bonuses.

Why did James reject him?
It turns out that the star’s contract stipulated that he could not take another job during the seven-month filming process.
“I asked Ruth Young, who has been my agent for 25 years, for advice, and she said, ‘Absolutely not. Don’t do this,’” the actor explained.
McAvoy listened to her words and chose to take part in a scandalous play for a potential million dollars, which eventually led him to Hollywood.
