Who else is hoping for an Inception sequel?

In Christopher Nolan’s work, no two works were ever the same.

The director has always strived to go beyond the norm and was not afraid to mix different genres within the same film.

Thus we got the psychological thriller in The Dark Knight, the tribute to soldiers in Dunkirk and the existential threat in Oppenheimer.

There is, however, one experience that the director has yet to reproduce on screen: horror.

It turns out that Nolan wouldn’t be averse to creating his own ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’, if not for one problem: the lack of a decent script, which can’t be found on the dusty shelves of studios.

“I think that really good horror requires an exceptional idea, and there are very few of those,” he admitted in a conversation with reporters.

The director hasn’t yet found a story that meets the strict criteria, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t experimented with a similar format before.

How many fans knew Inception was intended as a horror film until it evolved into a sci-fi action film?

“The idea that someone can invade your dreams and steal an idea is incredibly appealing,” Nolan said.

And quite frightening. If we put aside the concept of a ‘dream within a dream’ and reveal the essence of the plot, it becomes clear how the main character is driven to self-destruction by his dead wife and the ghosts of the past.

Fourteen years have passed since Inception premiered, but hope for a sequel is the last to die.
