But these can be almost perfect stories!
Not every film with a great cast lives up to the audience’s expectations. Sometimes even the most famous actors can’t save a project if the plot is boring or the pace of the story is slow.
In this selection, we have collected 10 films that, despite big names in the credits, have not realized their potential. If you do not want to waste several hours on a boring viewing experience, you better skip these films – even the stars can’t save a disastrous script sometimes.

Perhaps one of the most epic (in every sense) failures of our selection is Oliver Stone’s “Alexander.” When a film with a budget of $155 million grosses only $10 million more, it’s a fiasco, both commercially and reputationally. This is one of the most painful examples of how an all-star cast and a huge budget can’t save a film that fails to engage the viewer on a script level.
But the shooting was really large-scale, and the cast itself could have been much bigger: Stone planned to invite Tom Cruise, Sean Connery and Brad Pitt. The latter, by the way, refused to play Hephaestion because he disliked his figure – and as a result, the role went to Jared Leto. Val Kilmer played Philip instead of Sean Connery, and Colin Farrell replaced Tom Cruise.
Moreover, the failure of Stone’s “Alexander” resulted in the freezing of another project: the film “Alexander the Great,” also about the Great, which was to star Nicole Kidman and Leonardo DiCaprio. Apparently, it was for the better.
