The film does a good job of being creepy.
On September 5, a new horror film, “Paranormal Activity: Resident Evil,” will be released in Russian cinemas.
Despite the catchy title, this Indonesian film has nothing in common with popular American horror franchises – the distributors simply decided to use such an unethical method to attract more viewers to the cinemas.
The plot revolves around a group of popular video bloggers who decided to film their new video in an abandoned psychiatric hospital, which is said to be haunted by the ghosts of former patients.

Director Visnu Surya Prathma mixed shooting formats in the film – some of the film’s scenes were shot on a shaky video camera, like in The Blair Witch Project, and other scenes were shot in the style of well-produced American horror films.
Despite the incredibly brutal murder scenes and good jump scares, not everyone liked the film. Fans noted that Pratma could not find his recognizable film language, and his picture is strongly reminiscent of other Indonesian horror films.

And the film’s script clearly needed more work — “Paranormal Activity: Resident Evil” is very boring to watch.
“The premise was interesting, but the film lacks depth. The transitions between mockumentary and regular footage are very uneven. And the creepy scenes take precedence over character development,” – says one of the fans.
And yet, some fans praise this film precisely for its jump scares and creepy atmosphere, noting that plot in such films is not very important.
“The film has many boring storylines. But the best ones make you really care. Suitable for viewers who like jump scares” – one fan noted.
“Paranormal Activity: Resident Evil” got a pretty good rating from IMDb users – 7.3 points.
