Not that Star Wars fans will be too upset.
Despite the huge popularity of series and streaming platforms, projects exist in conditions of fierce competition, where sometimes just good results are not enough. To get continuation, you need to show excellent performance, and not everyone succeeds in this.
We already know for sure that this did not work out for “Acolyte” – fans liked this new product in the “Star Wars” universe so much that they called it the worst series in a distant galaxy. But are the other 5 series that we collected today really that bad?
It’s clear why shows like “Girls on the Bus” can’t easily get off the ground: it’s hard for an original project without an initial fan base to attract enough viewers from the start. But how did such a failure of “Acolyte” become possible, considering we’re talking about one of the most popular franchises of all time?
Since Star Wars became Disney property, old-school fans have not stopped rebelling. Yes, every year (if not every six months) new content appears in the universe in various formats, dedicated to many characters. However, not all new products satisfy the fans; at this point, many fans believe that the franchise has become a money-making machine and is quickly losing its magic.
“Acolyte” is a great example of this. While the series has fairly high ratings from critics on Rotten Tomatoes (are those critics in the same room with us?), audiences panned “The Acolyte” for its plot holes, agenda-pleasing, and dull story.
