Summer is a time for great movies.
The summer of 2024 brought us a lot of great movies – from the sequel to Inside Out to the social media horror film Soul Collector. Hollywood is gradually recovering from the effects of Covid on the industry, but also from the writers’ strike, and now we can see more and more good movies on the screens.

Fun fact: More than half of the films in this selection are sequels or installments of major franchises. Viewers are drawn to something they already know and love. This is borne out by the films’ box office successes: for example, the third film in the Deadpool franchise grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide, and Inside Out 2 — $1.6 billion.
But besides franchise sequels, there were also fresh new products: M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Trap” recently hit theaters. The new film from the director of “The Sixth Sense” and “Split” caused controversial reviews among viewers – the film has a 6.5 on Kinopoisk and 56% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film was praised for its great atmosphere, but the ending was criticized.
The perfect hit to end the summer was Alien: Romulus by Fede Alvarez. The film is set between the first and second films of the original Aliens quadrilogy. The intense atmosphere, dizzying (literally) action and incredible and sometimes terrifying plot made thousands of fans around the world rewatch the first four films in the franchise, and hope for a sequel.
