But that’s the whole point.
The zombie epic “The Walking Dead” ended with three simple words meant to help people understand the true meaning of the story.
According to Robert Kirkman, almost no one understands his work the first time around, and the final line is meant to reveal a theme that runs through Rick Grimes’ entire storyline.

In a speech to fans, the comic book author noted that his work was always meant to be read twice.
So in the last issue, the adult Karl reads about the life of his daughter Andrea’s father, who says at the very end:
“Read it again.”
Kirkman explained that he meant this phrase as a meta-instruction for readers. Because The Walking Dead is really a story about hope.
This fact remained hidden until the end due to many dark events that gave the impression that the heroes were cursed and doomed. But then fans got the chance to relive the journey with their favorite characters.

The first time – for the sake of tension and intense emotions, the second – as an epic about hope that allows you to survive even in the most difficult times.
“Once you discover that the series leads to the rebirth of humanity, everything takes on a new meaning,” the author explains.
Only comic book fans will be able to experience such an experience, as the creators of the series moved away from the original plot, and the final episode did not feature either Carl or Rick, as well as a flash-forward decades into the future.
