Towards the end of the story it became increasingly difficult to understand why Penelope had lost her head over such a man.

Book Colin is a prime example of toxic masculinity, prone to emotional outbursts and tantrums that Featherington watched with a mixture of disgust and delight.

At the ball, for example, in an attempt to keep calm and not cause a public scandal, he squeezed her hand so tightly that it left bruises.

Bridgerton, among other things, told his beloved what to do more than once, and so all the lightness of the melodrama disappeared without a trace.
