Get ready to count the similarities to Isayama’s masterpiece.

Finding a decent anime in the vein of Attack on Titan is no easy task. But it turns out that this one came out in 2007. Get ready to curl your fingers and count the similarities in the plots.

What’s in a name?

The anime is called Claymore. The action takes place in an alternate Middle Ages. Here, humans have long lived alongside werewolves, called “yoma”. These creatures feed on human flesh and can easily take on human form, allowing them to easily get between their victims. And if the yoma reaches the brain and eats it, it will also take possession of the memories of its ‘snack’.

To fight these monsters, a special squad of powerful warriors is created, called “claymores”. By the way, a claymore is a special type of two-handed sword. To become a warrior of a squad, you have to go through a not very pleasant procedure: jema blood is injected into the bodies of soldiers. As a result, the warrior turns into a half-monster, which turns out to be many times stronger and smarter than pure monsters.
