The best director is life.
Tom Hanks warned the people he would portray on screen: “I’ll say things you haven’t said yet; do things you’ve never done.” Filmmakers do everything they can to make a real story brighter and more exciting.
This does not mean that all films based on real events lie: there are some films that manage to maintain a balance between truth and fiction. These 15 films are proof of that:
“Society of Snow” is a drama by Juan Antonio Bayona based on the incredible story of the survival of a rugby team in the snowy Andes. In 1972, a passenger plane crashed in the mountains. Of the 45 people on board, only 29 managed to survive. When it became clear that no one would come to help, a group of young people were faced with a moral dilemma: starve to death or decide to commit cannibalism.
Everyone knows Oskar Schindler, but who has heard of Nicholas Winton’s feat? James Hawes’ biographical drama One Life reveals the story of the rescue of 669 Jewish children. In 1938, philanthropist Nicholas Winton arrived in Prague and launched a campaign to bring Jewish children to Britain and find adoptive families for them. What he did only became known to the world community in the 1980s thanks to the talk show That’s Life.
True crime fans have often heard of the Miranda Rule. Michelle Danner’s crime drama “The Devil is in the Details: The Miranda Case” tells the story of how it came to be.
