‘Across The Spider-Verse’ Actors Demonstrate Importance Of Writers At Golden Globes And Skewer Studio Executives

After a double whammy, Hollywood was ready to party at the Golden Globes, the first major awards show after the long layoff, as host Jo Koy reminded everyone from the stage.

In addition to the celebration, there was also reflection on the key role that writers play in all areas of entertainment, including award shows. It arrived courtesy of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Starring Daniel Kaluuya, Hailee Steinfeld and Shameik Moore in one of the night’s best-received comedies, the trio received the Golden Globe for Best Screenplay – Motion Picture

“This year we were all reminded of the critical importance of writers to the creative process,” Steinfeld said, referring to the five-month WGA strike that brought Hollywood to a standstill.

“To illustrate the importance of writers and writing, we asked that this segment not be written by writers, but by studio executives,” added Kaluuya.

Seeking a new contract that would guarantee higher wages, better conditions and protection from AI, the WGA spent months negotiating with representatives of the studios, whose top executives eventually reached an agreement with the writers.

Kaluuya, Steinfeld and Moore then performed their jokes as written by “studio executives.” That’s how it goes.

Kaluuya: How are you, Shameik?

Moore: Not much, Daniel, how are you, Hailee?

Steinfeld: I’m sensitive, I enjoy the Golden Globs, do you agree?

Moore: I agree.

Kaluuya: Just like me.
