Michael was granted full custody of Kaitlyn following her mother’s death and reportedly argued in court documents that he “has fully and completely assumed a permanent, unequivocal, committed and responsible fatherly role” to Kaitlyn. He also stated that he was “involved in the constant care of the girl and that he had established a binding and dependent relationship with her”.

Additionally, Anna’s ex claimed that after their split in 2017, his “visiting schedule” with Kylee “also included time” with Kaitlyn and said Mama June had an “inconsistent” relationship with Kaitlyn.
