Burdened by her overwhelming emotions and the typical stresses of growing up, she ran the risk of losing her friends and family.

Upon closer examination of Riley’s mind, Joy and Sadness figured out how to coexist as the young character adjusts to her new life.

The film was so well received that it won an Oscar for best animated film in 2016.

At the time, film critic Brian Viner called it “brilliant” and described it as “a deeply seductive story about the complex workings of a little girl’s mind.”

Inside Out 2 was announced at Disney’s D23 Expo last year.

Meg LeFauve, who co-wrote the first film, returned to write the second film, directed by Kelsey Mann.

The mesmerizing trailer begins with a dreamy piano melody playing as a message flashes across the screen.

The five emotions are then shown in a laboratory with a complex motherboard and an eerie, beeping red light.

One emotion asks, “What is this?” before a rock falls through a window and a group of construction workers crash onto the screen.

“Just to be clear, it’s demo day!” someone shouts as the music gets louder as a version of Ozzy Osbourne’s Crazy Train plays.
