Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner Explains How Moving On Is A ‘Natural Process’ (Exclusive)

The golden bachelor star Jerry Turner spoke about his experience in Short degree spin-off of the franchise during an exclusive video interview with Hollywood life. The 72-year-old reality TV personality explained how abandoning a different partner happens gradually.

“This is simply a natural process. There’s no way to define how it works,” Gerry said. “Just wait for nature to take its course and be in tune with your feelings.”

Gerry’s personal story touched the hearts of ABC viewers. His late wife, Toni, died from a bacterial infection in 2017 and she stressed on the show that she could never be replaced.

“I married my high school sweetheart, Toni, in 1972. We had 43 wonderful years together,” Gerry explained during the series. “We had a very typical but beautiful life, full of love, full of activity and as the years went by I retired. We had a plan and an idea of what our dream home would look like. So when Toni retired at the end of May 2017, we purchased her dream home and closed on June 6th. On June 6, things didn’t go as planned. She fell ill and her condition worsened within a few weeks.”

Gerry explained that the bacterial infection his wife contracted affected her kidneys and liver. “So I took my wife to the emergency room on July 7th. She died on July 15, “she recalled through tears. “No one will ever be able to replace Toni, but the love of my daughters and granddaughters pulled me out of a difficult situation.”

Speaking to HollywoodLife, Gerry noted that he “certainly” enjoyed his time on the reality show. As for whether he feels he “saved” the Short degree franchise, the ABC personality responded that while it was “wonderful,” it wasn’t his job to “discover it.”
