Adele paid tribute to Friends star Matthew Perry during her concert in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
The singer-songwriter took the stage shortly after news broke that the actor had been found dead in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home at the age of 54.
Adele interrupted her show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, the site of her ongoing Las Vegas residency, to talk about the actor, who she called “probably the best comedic character of all time.”
“It’s always so shocking, especially someone who made you laugh and brought so much joy into your life, that you don’t know.” I find it so strange, I have never met him in my life. There’s something about it that makes you feel so sad, especially because you didn’t necessarily know what was going on,” she told the crowd.
“I will remember this character for the rest of my life,” she added of Perry’s Friends character Chandler Bing. “He’s probably the best comedy character of all time.”

Loss: The singer-songwriter took to the stage shortly after news broke that the actor had been found dead in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home at the age of 54.
Adele, who dressed as Morticia Adams during the Halloween weekend performance, dedicated her son’s “When We Were Young” to Perry.
During the song’s intro, Adele usually walks through the audience to reminisce about her favorite childhood memories.
Adele shared her own childhood memory on stage, recalling: “One of my friends, Andrew, did the best Chandler impression when I was 12.”
“He did it all the time to make us laugh, and when one of us was having a bad day or feeling down, he’d pretend to be Chandler.”
Adele, who herself decided to quit drinking earlier this year, also spoke about Perry’s struggles with alcohol and opioid addiction. “He’s been so open about his struggles with addiction and sobriety, which I think is incredibly, incredibly brave,” she said of the star, who wrote a best-selling book about his struggles.
Adele mentioned Perry again later in the show after breaking down in tears when she saw her gynecologist in the audience, telling the audience: “It’s a very emotional night.”
Perry, who shot to fame as the sarcastic Chandler Bing on the groundbreaking ’90s sitcom, was found dead in his Los Angeles home on Saturday after emergency services were called around 4pm local time.
Earlier in the day, he reportedly played a two-hour game of pickleball – a sport similar to tennis but played on a smaller court – before sending his assistant on an errand. When they returned, Perry was found lifeless in his hot tub.

Friends, which followed the lives of six 20-something friends living in New York, was a huge hit worldwide when it aired between 1994 and 2004, and reruns remain popular years later.
Perry gained a worldwide fan base for his role as Chandler, which earned him an Emmy nomination in 2002, but behind the glitz and glamor he secretly battled substance abuse for decades.
There was no evidence of foul play and no drugs were found at the scene of his death, sources said this morning.
The cast of Saturday Night Live also paid tribute to the star, shortly after the former Friends star’s sudden death at the age of 54 was confirmed.

A black-and-white photo of Perry closed the last episode of NBC’s late-night sketch show – this time hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze.
Perry himself previously hosted the show on 4 October 1997, at the height of his mainstream fame with the US sitcom Friends, which featured indie band Oasis as musical guests.
He was the fourth star of the hit show to host Saturday Night Live after Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox co-hosted in 1995, and Lisa Kudrow appeared the following year.
Perry’s one-episode tenure included a “Friends” parody in which the actor played female roommate Joey — a character made famous by Matt LeBlanc — while Colin Quinn played a female version of Chandler.
