Recipients of the 2023 WIF honors include America Ferrera, Eva Longoria and Celine Song

America Ferrera, Eva Longoria and Linda Yvette Chavez, as well as Celine Song and Greta Lee were named as this year’s WIF laureates.

The organization, formerly known as Women In Film, Los Angeles and celebrating its 50th anniversary, will present the awards at its annual fundraising gala on Nov. 30 in Los Angeles, it said Thursday.

In addition to the five, the full 2023 honoree list also includes Yara Shahidi, who was previously honored by WIF with the Max Mara Face of the Future Award.

Ferrera, one of the stars of this year’s blockbuster Barbie, was selected for the Jane Fonda Humanitarian Award for her dedication and work with the charities Harness and Poderistas. Fonda, who received the first award of 2021, chose Ferrera for this year’s award and will present it to her at the ceremony.

The Crystal Award for Advocacy, given to individuals and groups that create opportunities to advance women in the film industry, goes to Longoria and screenwriter Chávez, who worked on Longoria’s feature film debut. Flamin’ Hot; and Song and Lee, who wrote, directed and starred in the Korean romantic drama Past lives.

Longoria, as well as Chavez and Song and Lee, will participate in discussions about their collaboration.

“The work of this year’s winners exemplifies outstanding creative vision and the change WIF has sought to achieve in its 50 years as an organization,” said Monica Levinson and Talitha Watkins, co-chairs of the WIF Honors Committee. “Our industry is better because of these women and their commitment to making a lasting impact in Hollywood, both in front of and behind the scenes.”

WIF said it is working directly with SAG-AFTRA to ensure compliance with strike guidelines for the benefit gala, which supports WIF’s educational and charitable programs and its advocacy for gender equality in the entertainment industry.
